Riverview Health Infusion

Riverview Health in Noblesville, Indiana recently opened Phase 2 of the new Courtney Cox Cole Infusion Center. The goals of this project were to greatly increase the number and variety of spaces for outpatient infusion, locate the service in an area easily accessed from the main atrium, combine the area with Cardiology Short Stay for staffing efficiencies, open new circulation pathways for wayfinding, and create a wonderful patient experience.

The former Infusion Center was located in a small, cramped, windowless area of the hospital. This project captured space on the main floor of the hospital formerly occupied by other relocated clinical spaces. Moving the North wall of this space 10 feet to the face of an existing overhang allowed the creation of large window openings. An open floor plan allowed this natural light to flood into the entire space. These windows have open views to a new Healing Garden that will open later in the spring.

The complex project was built over five phases. Depending on patient preference and duration of the infusion, three types of infusion spaces were designed: open “pods”, semi-enclosed “bays”, and private rooms. Each of the bays along the window wall have an individual fireplace, television, and built-in bench. One large central nurse station minimizes walking distances for the clinical staff. Flanking on two sides of the nurse station are large artist-designed glass panels that represent the colors of the ribbons for various cancers.
