King’s Daughters’ Health Cancer Treatment Center

Complementing the ARTEKNA-designed King's Daughters' Health replacement hospital completed in 2013, the new Cancer Treatment Center addition includes both medical oncology and radiation oncology services. The facility also includes an ISO Class 7 Pharmacy Clean Room (with ISO Class 5 hood) for compounding chemotherapy treatment drugs, a CT Simulator and six exam/treatment rooms that can flex between medical and radiation services.

The double-height, light-infused lobby was designed to create an uplifting, non-clinical environment. The warm, natural materials and fireplace were specifically chosen to provide a welcoming environment for both patients and visitors.

The sunlight-filled infusion bays are oriented to take advantage of the scenic views overlooking the existing water features on the site and the new garden area. The infusion area includes both private and shared treatment areas to allow patients the opportunity for interactions with others or privacy if they are feeling more withdrawn.

The building was zoned to separate treatment areas, staff areas and public areas, yet maintain operational efficiencies. The building was sited and designed to accommodate future expansion, including an additional future linear accelerator vault.
