Unit Entrance Patient Room Elevator Lobby Patient Toilet Room January 2010 22,130       In 1984, Artekna’s principals designed what was a state-of-the-art 46-bed Med/Surg Patient Unit.  Although the finishes within the unit had been changed over its 25 year existence, the basic layout had not.  Responding to the need for improved patient care, space for family members, and increased efficiency for staff, Artekna designed a new state-of-the-art facility for healthcare delivery in 2010 and beyond.  3 West is Riverview Hospital’s main inpatient care floor.  In order to maintain an adequate number of inpatient beds available during renovation, the project was designed and constructed in three main phases. Each of the 41 patient rooms and toilet rooms was reconfigured to maximize functionality and zoned to give family members space.  The entire core was reconfigured to maximize efficiency of nursing support.
